Shoe drive partners with We Care Fair

Neosho Crosslines Ministry’s Annual Shoe Drive will take a new direction this year.

“We are partnering with the annual We Care Fair to be held in August,” said Renee Gillett, executive director of Crosslines. “Neosho Crosslines feels this is a positive direction to take for this annual event. Normally the ministry served around 250 children each year, but this partnership will allow us to set a much higher goal.”

As far as what the main purpose of the shoe drive is, Gillett said it is intended to help area families.

“To allow families in our community who might not otherwise be able to afford shoes for their children to receive a pair of ‘new school shoes’ for each child in their family,” she said.

This year’s goal is for 800 pairs of “new shoes” and the event is open to residents in Newton and McDonald counties.Light Hiking shoe: Resembling burly running shoes, these low-cut models with flexible midsoles are excellent for day hiking.
