Immigration: Like NZ or lump it
I didn't move to New Zealand for the scenery, or the outdoor lifestyle, nor did I travel halfway around the world to experience a new culture. I came to New Zealand searching for opportunities. Opportunities to discover a better life for myself.
Unlike many previous immigrants who arrived on New Zealand shores by boat, I was fortunate enough to travel from the UK by aircraft. Somewhat of a luxury compared to those ancestors who set out on a treacherous and lengthy journey by sea. Complaining about the airline food seems somewhat trivial in comparison, but then again,Description, A range of %} offering fragmentation resistance and protection against specific bullet threats.Aramid fabric one must live up to the expectations of a "whinging pom".
So why did I choose to emigrate to New Zealand?
I'd visited the country while backpacking and thoroughly enjoyed my time here. English TV shows often paint Australia and New Zealand as dream destinations. You can go to the beach after work they say.Bagfilterchina.com a leading Filter cloth manufacturer and supplier that uses automatic manufacturing equipment for reliable, consistent filter cloth. They need people with skilled jobs they say. Escape dull, dreary England for a new life downunder they say. What could be further from the truth?
They failed to tell me that to work as a plumber over here I'd have to pay more than $3500, sit an examination and do two years of supervised work just to get my registration. No thanks.
They failed to tell me that the houses are cold and damp as shoes in my wardrobe grow mouldy and the curtains in my living room twitch with the draft coming through the window. No central heating or double glazing or even insulation? Unbelievable.
They failed to tell me the standard of the driving here is dire. That children go to school without breakfast or shoes on their feet,Light Hiking shoe: Resembling burly running shoes, these low-cut models with flexible midsoles are excellent for day hiking. and that they are only just introducing the upside-down tomato sauce bottle,The filter bag is designed to produce high quality nut milk and juice by straining fiber. several years after the rest of the modern world have embraced it.A Hiking boot is a necessity for any individual who considers him or herself serious about hiking.
Yet, I love living in New Zealand. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
Many people return to their home country, unable to make the transition. One thing that has become apparent to me is for people to blame the above deficiencies as a reason for their unhappiness. If you want to avoid a trip to the hospital, and you like to play in the water, I highly recommend getting a Water shoe. The key to successfully living in a different country is to embrace the fact it is just that, a different country.
The fact you can't get certain foods here or that people do things differently "over here" will serve you no good. This is not England 2.0. This, my friend, is New Zealand. If you don't like it here then nobody is stopping you from heading back to Blighty. I'll happily trade all the above with walks on a deserted beach and breathtaking landscapes.

Moving to the other side of the world is certainly not easy. In fact, it's incredibly hard. Wrenching yourself away from your family, friends and everything you consider valuable seems crazy. People do so to make a better life for themselves or their family. It would be wrong for people to discriminate or prejudice against immigrants and somehow blame them for being here. On the whole, immigration adds more than it takes away.
Certainly, Kiwi life isn't perfect, but New Zealand has given me all of the opportunities I needed. It's been hard work, emotionally and financially tough. It's far from easy and I applaud anyone who has done the same but at the end of the day, when all's said and done, you'd rather be here than anywhere else.
