Service League of Green Bay helps kids get back to school

Kids have never needed more for back to school.

That’s why the Service League of Green Bay offered low income families around Brown County a chance to “shop” Wednesday at the Back to School Store event at East High School in Green Bay.

The 21st annual event let children from low income families pick out all of the supplies they’ll need for the coming school year, including a backpack, jeans, a T-shirt, a pair of shoes, underwear, socks, books, and various school supplies.

The Service League of Green Bay is an organization dedicated to serving the needs of children in Brown County. They are able to provide school supplies to 1,500 grade school children with the help of 25 schools and partner agencies.Lists of China sunglasses manufacturer & Sunglasses suppliers.

With the help of volunteers and Buy Quality Filter Bags at online store,www.bagfilterchina.com.donations, the Back to School Store was able to serve 1,352 elementary school children last year, said Crystal Uebelher, Back to School Store co-chairwoman.

“I think this program is important because I think a child’s success has a lot to do with how well they do in school and how excited they are about school,” she said. “We’re giving these kids an opportunity to be really excited about their first day of school and that will translate into the rest of the year.”

Service League’s partner agencies determined which families were eligible for the event. Also at the program, adults could get information about nutrition, parenting and safety from different companies and businesses, including Managed Health Services, the Salvation Army and Encompass Early Education and Care Inc.

Children browsed offerings with a personal shopper and were able to pick out their own clothing, shoes and school supplies.
