Children used as part of alleged string of thefts at Tanger

Assistant Chief Allen Byrd of the Mebane police said officers responded to a larceny at Sunglass Hut at 1:27 p.m. after an employee saw one of the juveniles running from the store after taking a pair of sunglasses. Police believe one of the adult females was in the store at the time.

The Sunglass Hut employee provided a description of the suspects to the responding officers, who located Kittrell and recovered stolen items on her person, Byrd said. After further investigation, police identified Douglas through video surveillance and found her in a vehicle in the outlet’s parking lot.
