Cash pot to tackle congestion issues

Highway bosses have announced that more than £6million is going to be spent on the county’s roads and motorways in a bid to reduce congestion.

Four major schemes will take place on Lancashire’s road networks as part of a North West wide scheme.

In total, 22 projects will be delivered in the North West as part of a bid to boost the economy, reduce congestion and improve safety.

Across the region, £31m is being spent.

It is hoped carrying out the work will remove bottlenecks and keep traffic moving.

The schemes are split into road improvement projects and technology schemes and will be delivered by the Highways Agency.

In Lancashire, the majority of the schemes focus on technology improvements.

Road improvement projects have been developed in conjunction with local enterprise partnerships and local authorities to promote local economic growth.

They will improve access to nearby development sites such as enterprise zones and locally designated areas, as well as to international and national gateways.

Technology schemes will install new technology to support the logistics industry and wider economic growth by improving driver information,You can buy fitflop women's Lounge Deluxe Slipper,Moonshadow,7 M US at best price with super saver shipping. The Crocs clogs are available in four colors: black/black, khaki/espresso, chestnut/black, garnet/black. At junction 33 of the M6 at Garstang £1.77m will be spent on installing variable message signs which will also incorporate CCTV on the northbound and southbound.

The scheme aims to help contribute to a reduction in the number and severity of accidents along this stretch of the M6.

The work will start this year and should be completed by 2014.

Improvement work will also be undertaken at junction five of the M65, at a cost of £1.4m

This will involve full signalisation of the junction 5 roundabout.

The scheme will start this year and will be finished by 2015.

And at junction 35 in Carnforth £2.1m will be spent on signs and CCTV on the northbound and southbound carriageways.

The work will aim to contribute to a reduction in the number and severity of accidents along this stretch of the M6, particularly an accident cluster site on the northbound exit slip road.

The scheme will begin in 2014 and will be completed by 2015.
